For a student to be dismissed from special education services, a reevaluation must be completed using existing data or another evaluation may be completed if the case conference committee determines this is needed for more information.  The student must be making educational progress without special education direct supports, but may still use accommodations which could be provided under a Section 504 plan after dismissal.

For Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, dismissal would be considered if the student is above the 20th percentile upon reevaluation, if there had been no progress even with intervention for 2 or more years, or if the student staying in the classroom has greater benefit than the student being pulled out for services. Consultation for one year before dismissal is usually recommended if there is a question.

For Speech Therapy and Language Therapy from a Speech/Language Pathologist, a reevaluation will be completed using existing data or updated testing, as well as guidance will be considered from the following document:

A parent may always choose to revoke consent for all special education services at any time in writing to the Director of Academic Programs.
